| The Materials Science and Technologies Undergraduate Program, offered within the Faculty of Engineering, Architecture and Design at Mudanya University, is a four-year (eight-semester) interdisciplinary undergraduate program comprising a total of 240 ECTS credits and integrating fundamental sciences with materials technologies. The program profile is structured around understanding the relationships among the processing, structure, properties, and performance of materials, as well as the selection, development, production, and characterization of materials for a wide range of applications. During the early years of the program, emphasis is placed on fundamental sciences such as mathematics, physics, and chemistry. In subsequent semesters, students receive both theoretical and practical education in areas including metallic, polymeric, ceramic, and composite materials; materials production and processing technologies; materials characterization; and advanced materials technologies. The core approach of the program is to integrate theoretical knowledge with laboratory practice, experimental studies, and project-based learning, enabling students to develop innovative solutions to contemporary challenges in materials science and technologies. The program aims to equip students with competencies in materials selection and design, evaluation of manufacturing processes, determination of material properties, analysis of experimental data, and scientific interpretation of results. In addition, the program incorporates contemporary topics such as sustainable materials, recycling, resource and energy efficiency, reduction of environmental impacts, and next-generation materials technologies into the curriculum, thereby preparing students for advances in science and technology as well as the evolving needs of industry. |
