Profile of the Programme

The Biotechnology and Genetics Undergraduate Program, located within the Faculty of Engineering, Architecture and Design at Mudanya University, is a multidisciplinary undergraduate program offering a 4-year (8-semester) education consisting of a total of 240 ECTS credits.

The program profile is based on a curriculum structure that integrates the fundamental principles of molecular biology, cell biology, and genetics with modern engineering approaches and data science (bioinformatics). While basic sciences (biology, chemistry, physics, mathematics) and engineering concepts predominate in the early years of education, later semesters focus on advanced fields of specialization such as Health Biotechnology, Industrial Biotechnology, Agricultural Biotechnology, Genetic Engineering, and Bioinformatics.

The most fundamental feature of the program is the transformation of theoretical knowledge into practice through modern laboratory infrastructure. By experiencing current R&D methodologies, students gain competencies in problem-solving, experimental design, and data analysis. Furthermore, the development of eco-friendly biotechnological processes in line with the global climate crisis, green transition, and sustainability goals constitutes one of the cornerstones of the program`s innovative academic profile.
