Academic advising at Mudanya University is a fundamental guidance service that helps our associate, undergraduate, and graduate students effectively plan their education-training processes, monitor their academic development, and achieve their career goals.
How the Advising System Works
- Assignment: For every student enrolled in our university, a full-time faculty member from their own program is designated as an advisor at least one week before the course registration date.
- Continuity: The advising process continues until the student`s relationship with the university is terminated.
- Access to Information: Our students can access advisor information and contact details at any time through the Student Information System (SIS/OBS).
Duties of the Academic Advisor
Our academic advisors guide our students on the following matters:
- Education Planning: Providing guidance on course selection, registration renewal, adding/dropping courses, and withdrawing from courses, and approving these transactions via OBS in accordance with the academic calendar.
- Academic Information: Informing the student about course exemptions, course equivalencies, and relevant regulations/directives.
- Development and Exchange: Providing guidance regarding exchange programs such as Erasmus, internship opportunities, and field-related academic events (conferences, seminars, etc.).
- Career and Adaptation: Supporting the processes of adapting to university life, career planning, and monitoring academic performance.
- Psychosocial Support: In cases where the student experiences social or economic problems, referring them to the Psychological Counseling and Guidance unit when necessary.
Responsibilities of Our Students
For an efficient advising process, our students are expected to comply with the following rules:
- Following Regulations: Being informed about and acting in accordance with the university regulations and directives regarding their rights and responsibilities.
- Time Management: Complying with the announced "advisor meeting hours" and sharing academic concerns within these designated times.
- Registration Procedures: Personally performing course registration and add/drop procedures in accordance with the academic calendar and obtaining approval from their advisor.
Communication: Face-to-Face Meeting Hours
To ensure that the advisor-student relationship is not limited solely to digital environments, each advisor determines and announces an "advisor meeting hour" of no less than one lesson hour per week. Our students can meet face-to-face with their advisors during these hours for situations requiring non-routine information or documents.
